About us

THE CLINCAL TRIAL CENTRE (ZKS) LEIPZIG

The Clinical Trial Centre acts as scientific partner and service provider for physicians and scientists of the University Hospital Leipzig.

We support both academic-initiated and commercial trials, assist sponsors and investigating scientists and inform prospective patients.

Our institution was founded as a facility of the Medical Faculty at Leipzig University in 1999 and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research from 1999-2005 and 2007 until 2016.

The ZKS Academy offers further and advanced training for medical and non-medical staff in clinical research and the part-time Master's degree programme in Clinical Research & Translational Medicine.

The ZKS emerged from the Institute of Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology (IMISE), which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024. To mark the occasion, a comprehensive brochure has been produced, which includes a colourful illustrated chapter on the history of the ZKS, from its foundation to the present day (pp. 14-22).
